250sqm House, Neve Tzedek
Photographs: Adi Gilad
Planning and interior design of a 197sqm urban villa with a 60sqm yard and roof terrace. The 100-year-old house has a narrow, high structure with two air-flow directions. The large windows and high ceilings have been preserved. During the renovation, the old walls of the house, made of seashells and sand, were discovered as evidence of the past. In order to bring light into the living room, it was decided to place the staircase on the side of the entrance hall, while a glass ceiling casts light on the seating area. A combination of old and new: the ancient doors of the house are imported from Egypt and Turkey, the main entrance door is 100 years old. A stone floor with protruding tendons, an open kitchen and a dining table are planned on the ground floor. The dining area is modern but is surrounded by chairs bought in the local flea market. A spiral staircase leads to a separate master floor, which is decorated in a minimalist style and white colors, while opening towards the green roof garden.
