80sqm Apartment, Jaffa

The Jaffa Apartment is located on a small quiet street right near the bustling Flea Market neighbourhood in Jaffa-Tel Aviv. Originally built in 2006, the unique apartment is a one-of in the building, with a U-shaped plan surrounding a spacious patio.
When entering the apartment one can immediately see the light filled patio. On one of its edges lays the living room and across it is the master bedroom. The kitchen is located right between the two wings- functioning both as a separate space and as a passage. All three rooms are overlooking the outdoor space that’s in the heart of the apartment.
In order to create a continuous flow between the different spaces, they were all covered with the same small hexagonal tiles. The distinct pattern with the strong brown-orange terracotta color enhances the continuity and sets the tone for a warm and earthy design.
The design of the wide hallway leading to the bedrooms and bathrooms was kept bright and simple, with decorated carved doors and a single lamp hanging from the ceiling providing soft lighting.
In general, the nearby flea market was a major inspiration for the design- a modern apartment with a vintage twist. All lighting fixtures were purchased in the market, as well as authentic vintage wood furniture for bathrooms.
