House, Kibbutz Shaar Hagolan
Photographs: Itay Benit
Planing and interior design of house in kibbutz “Shaar HaGolan” in the Golan Heights.
The house was originally a cluster of several 28 sqm. housing units that were consolidated into one unit.
The new design was entrusted to – Meirav Zohar – the interior designer, and Kfir Wax – the architect.
Main design constraints and challenges were multiple patchworks to the units from years back.
New sun terrace constituted the significant addition of the house with a new roof and it defined the spirit of the house, character and atmosphere.
The add-on was built on the basis of correspondent structural timber beams and with the existing wooden ceiling in the old house.
From the outside, the appearance of the kibbutz’s house is preserved, while the interior is freely designed and tailored to the customers’ needs and tastes.
