450sqm House, Central Israel

Planning and interior design of 4 dunam plot house in a rural environment.
The entrance to the house from the street level descends 1.20 m to the level of the house. The geometry of the house is composed from an orthogonal plan of the house itself and an oblique external outer shell. The spaces created between the two geometries define pergolas and covered exterior spaces at variable depths accentuated by wood cladding. These spaces contribute to a free and relaxed feeling. The Z-shaped one-level house conducts a dialogue with the courtyard in every space and in every direction the house. The heart of the house – the living room, the kitchen and the dining area are in the wing which spreads across the lot (east-west), thus giving a wide and transparent front to the landscape. The wide pergola attached to these spaces creates a sequence of interior and exterior.
